I am always on the look out for new products and / or systems that can genuinely help people to make money online. The criteria i usually look for in these products are:

1. Quality
2. Content
3. Ease of use
4. Additional expenditure required (if any) to implement product strategies
5. Is the product ‘Newbie Friendly’
6. Will the strategies outlined produce results.
7. Are the strategies evergreen (will they continue to work year after year)

Now there is an ocean of ‘Make money online’ products out there, and i have to say that many are crap and a complete waste of money (I can say that with confidence because i have wasted a lot of money on them myself in the past). But there are also a lot of quality programs that really will help people achieve success online.

The Mini site formula came out in March 2009. I have to say, i really didn’t pay much attention to it then. It wasn’t until December 2009 that i came across the product again and looked into it in more detail.

The sales page looked very alluring and i liked the concept, so i decided to look further and get the product.

What is the Mini Site Formula?

I’m sure you’ve guessed by now that the Mini Site formula is about building money making websites. Now i know the thought of having to build a website is enough to make many people go running off to MacDonalds to see if they have an job vacancies…and building a website that makes money too, impossible many will say

As you can see, this is an extremely comprehensive course that leaves no stones unturned. All aspects of this online business model are covered thoroughly, with very easy to follow video tutorials, plus there is also a 201 page PDF report if you prefer to read rather than watch.

What did impress me about this program, was the ease that it can all be set up. The claims on the sales page are that you can build a site in 30 minutes. Well, i timed myself on the last one just to see how accurate that was and it took less, under 20 minutes in fact and that was adding the theme and plugins too. Granted, i have done this many times before, but even a complete novice would be able to get a site up and running in an hour with ease, such is the clarity of the tutorials.

Now these money making websites are not just some simple adsense sites or a
throw up Clickbank product advertiser, they are much more than this.

Joel Peterson (the creator of mini site formula) recommends several affiliate resources to use to get products to sell on your sites. Sites such as Ebay Partner Network, Pepperjam, Commission Junction, LinkShare.com, Clickbank,  Adsense, GoldenCan, Rubicon Project, AzoogleAds and Affiliate.com.

Now, my one gripe with this program is the use of Ebay Partner Network (actually, my gripe is more with EPN than with Mini Site Formula). The reason i say this is because it is quite a difficult and time consuming task trying to get approved for EPN.

Now i am slightly biased in this negative way because i was not approved for EPN a long while back when i applied (this was way before i had the mini site formula program). The good news is that Joel has made a video that shows you the best way to apply to give you a better chance of being approved.

But if you don’t get approved in the Ebay Partner Network, then my recommendation would be to replace it with Amazon.com. It is much easier to sign up and get approved as an Amazon affiliate, and because of their popularity their products do convert very well.

Getting traffic to your sites is the most important thing you will need to learn. Without traffic you won’t earn any money, simple as that. Well, Joel has that covered completely too, and he uses  couple of very interesting and effective methods.

In this program Joel teaches you how to use the power of video to drive traffic to your sites. I had started using video before i had the Mini Site Formula, and i’ve been very impressed with its effectiveness. It’s like the new article marketing. The good thing about videos is that they’re easy to create, and search engines love them so they get indexed very easily.

Now, don’t be afraid by the thought of having to make videos, you don’t have to be Steven Spielberg to be able to do it. In fact you don’t need to be in the video at all.

One of the best ways to make a video is to use some screen capture software.

I use Camtasia for this myself. It is an excellent product, although it is a little pricey at around $300. Joel also has some resources you can use to get your videos up on many different video sharing sites. If you have never used video as a traffic strategy, you will be very pleasantly surprised.

So how did the Mini Site Formula size up to my review criteria i mentioned at the start:

1. Quality
This program full of quality information, and resources.

2. Content
The content is very thorough. The Mini Site Formula is basically a full on business  formula, and is delivered as such. You won’t be left asking questions as everything you need to know is addressed in the program.

3. Ease of use
This for me is one of the strongest aspects of this program. From the concept
itself, right the way through to site building and strategy implementation is very easy to follow, even for the newest of newbies. Due to the extent of the information  provided, it is a rock solid business model to start making a living from.

4. Additional expenditure required (if any) to implement product strategies.
There are several recommendations for additional resources and products that CAN be used to make things easier, but none of these are required to make this program work for you. Of course, you will need to pay for domain names every time you set a site up, and you will need Hosting, but if you want to make any money online you will need these things anyway. Domain registration and Hosting comes pretty cheap these days anyway.
Many of the additional recommended expenditure is mentioned as needed when you want to ramp up your business. Well, when you are at a stage to ramp it up,  then it means you are already making some decent money from your sites and will have the money to spend on these extras if you so wish.

5. Is the product ‘Newbie Friendly’
Absolutely. Everything is explained in such a manner that anyone can follow. The videos make it as easy as watching over someones shoulder and copying exactly what they do.

6. Will the strategies outlined produce results.
If you follow the strategies laid out in this program then they will work, simple as that. But let me be clear, this is not a ‘push button’ strategy (there isn’t such a thing), and it will require work from you to start making any income. But if you put in the effort and copy the formula, then it will work without a doubt.
Don’t forget, these sites are being built to earn around $3 to $5 a day. They are not mega sites that will be pulling in thousands every day, that’s not what the Mini Site Formula is about. This is about keeping it easy, and maximizing your chances of making money. The more sites you have up and running, then the more money you will make.

7. Are the strategies evergreen (will they continue to work year after year)
The sites are used building WordPress, which is a very sturdy and popular platform to build sites with. The affiliate programs are numerous, and the traffic strategies used have been effective for a while and i see no reason why they should stop being so any time soon. But, even if they did, you are not tied down to using just one method to generate traffic to your sites, you can use what ever method works best for you. So i would say this program and it’s methodology has a very long shelf life indeed.
