How do these companies make money?

leggo eggo asked:

I have always wondered how Google, Yahoo, Youtube, etc. are some of the best and ,of course, most famous websites, but how do they get money? Yahoo, you don’t pay to have it, same goes for Youtube and Google…so how do they make money?

  1. Website content

If you notice all these Ad’s? If you click on one, the owner of the website gets paid a “click thru”. If you click on a “sponsored link” the website gets paid. Etc.

  2. Caffeinated Content – Members-Only Content for WordPress

They sell ad spaces to customers. Ever wonder why there are ads every time you do a google or yahoo search?

It’s all about the ads. When millions of people come through your site all the time, they can see a lot of ads, and Yahoo, Google, etc. make a lot of money this way. Put it this way, they’re turning a profit.

Exactly what everyone is saying, advertisement. Depending on where you live in the country, you’ll see different type of advertisement for different products. Example, I work in wireless, and when I’m on myspace in California I see advertisment for U.S. Cellular, but if I’m in Illinois, I see advertisment for Verizon Wireless. It’s localized corporate advertisement that businesses can get alot out of, so they pay out alot to these search engines and social sites, which have alot of localized users.

If you look on the right side of your screen, you will see advertisements for other Yahoo products, because Yahoo is so huge it makes money off itself. How awesome is that!?

    Hi,

This time of year, when third-quarter earnings are soon to be announced and pension funding is about to flood the market, is strong for investors. After abandoning the market for the summer, seasonal investors will return in droves, and as a result, trading volume is expanding rapidly. In addition, the second half of the calendar year is when many companies announce initial public offerings of new stock.

In the market place, however, many investors mistakenly believe that there is “nothing new under the sun,” but that simply is not true. The best growth stocks come from companies with a unique product. Also, currently even value and foreign equities are trading for bargain-basement prices, and there are some great opportunities for cashing in on stocks with high predicted earnings.
